F1 Movie in-game scenarios, Thomas gets hand on and gives his first impressions

It’s been a couple days now since the full release of the F1 Movie scenarios within F1 25 and since we watched the movie, who better not to review them. We do warn you - if you want to see the movie, do not play the scenarios as it’s directly linked to the APXGP story line.

After jumping into the F1 Movie section of the game you’re greeted with 6 scenarios, one of which was released early that introduced us into the seat of the APXGP F1 team doing some practice laps into a time trial around Silverstone that pits you against your new teammate Joshua Pearce.

Now onto the real deal. You get a good handful of different scenarios, most of which weave in between a handful of the movie scenes as the story progresses - and they do not disappoint. A mix of time trials, racing, fighting for positions as well as some seasonal filler racing that ties into the seasonal progression of the team. These scenarios see you playing as both Sonny Hayes and Joshua Pearce taking turns at going against your own teammate as well as the other racers on the track. Some of the newer F1 fans might be a little confused from seeing some unfamiliar names as this was filmed and set in years prior to 2025, but for some of the older fans, who doesn’t love seeing Daniel Riccardo back on the grid.

Before each scenario you’re given the opportunity to tailor the experience to how you like, assists and also a difficulty selector with 4 different options (Normal, Challenging, Hard, Expert). These Difficulty options, just like normal AI racing, improve their ability to defend and fight for positions as well as just general pace. However in the scenario we got early (time trial) the difficulty changed the time you had to beat.

Overall the scenarios did really hit the mark in terms of immersing yourself into the world of APXGP and the film’s scenarios. After completing all of the scenarios you are rewarded with the customisation option to wear the Sonny Hayes helmet. I do wish some things were tweaked, one of the main ones being your engineer. Unfortunately we do not get a new race engineer voiced by one of the actors in the film bossing us around when we do illegal overtakes. And finally the sixth and last scenario, which captures some of the final moments of the film. However it doesn’t exactly replicate 1:1 what happens, maybe it’s just me being picky and wanting a perfect ending, but nonetheless still had a great time playing along with the story.

If you would like to jump in and play these scenarios yourself, be sure to jump onto F1 25, make sure you’re logged into your EA account and go unlock that helmet, prove to the world why APXGP is a force to be reckoned with on the grid.
